Black Lotus Books Policy
Content Guidelines and Restrictions
Black Lotus Books supports your right to free speech, and your human right of creative expression through writing. Our content guidelines are perhaps the most liberal of any traditional book publisher in the industry. We welcome you to read our full content policy: Black Lotus Books Content Guidelines and Restrictions.
In our effort to maintain transparency, and to provide our authors with fair and reasonable contractual agreements, we have listed a sample book publishing contract, as well as our eBook Listing Agreement for indie authors who wish to sell their book in our online bookstore, below. It should be understood that while the eBook Listing Agreement is the actual agreement which indie authors sign, the Book Publishing Contract is simply a template. Individual book publishing contracts may vary.
Black Lotus Books was founded to help authors. As such, we have done our best to adhere to the Fair Contract Initiative laid out by the Author’s Guild Foundation.

eBook Listing Agreement for Indie Authors
After your eBook has been approved for listing in our online bookstore, we will ask that you read and agree to our listing agreement. Indie authors who list their books for sale in our store receive 50% of their book’s royalties after net sales. You maintain full rights to your work, and may request that we un-list your book for sale at any time.
We recommend printing and keeping a copy of the agreement for your records, as the agreement might change in the future, in which case the new agreements may no longer apply.
